Strawberries & Poppies - Hutton-Elbert Wedding
Ashleigh Hutton, my friend's little sister, was engaged November 2004. Within
weeks, I was asked to take part in the wedding planning, primarily designing the
wedding stationery. What an honor! I had known her family for years and it
was truly a privilege to be asked to help in planning for such a special day!
Planning for a summer wedding, Ashleigh had decided on pink and orange for
her primary colors! After discussing the wedding, we decided on bright white
invitations and pink envelopes. Summer is such a cheerful, light-hearted season,
and I wanted to portray that with Ashleigh's invitations. I chose bright
complementary colors and a free form font to use in all her wedding stationery.
To keep the formality, I used the traditional wedding text and formating.
Ashleigh was planning on having a large wedding, and to save money she
decided to use postcards as the RSVP cards. We were able to save money on
additional envelopes, as well as postage. I happily designed a front and back
RSVP card that could be used as a postcard.
As the wedding grew near, Ashleigh was blessed with many friends and family
that wanted to throw her several bridal showers. I thought that it would be fun
for her to send out Thank You cards that matched the invitations. I designed a
Thank You card for Ashleigh to send out prior to the wedding, and another
Thank You card that the happy couple could send out after the wedding!
